Description

A person has been hit by a train between Colchester / Braintree and Shenfield. Whilst the emergency services carry out their work, all lines between these stations are closed. Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 15:30.

Greater Anglia will be working with Network Rail and the emergency services to re-open the line as soon as possible.

Please be prepared for a delay to your journey.

Limited accessible replacement buses will be running between the following locations:

  • Witham and Shenfield - journey times may take up to 60 minutes

  • Braintree and Witham: - journey times may take up to 30 minutes

These buses will not call at Beaulieu Park.

Please note that e-scooters, electric and full size bicycles are not permitted on rail replacement vehicles.

Travelling from Norwich to London (approximate journey time up to 3 hours)

  • Travel on a Greater Anglia train to Stansted Airport and change there for Stansted Express services to London Liverpool Street

  • Travel on a Greater Anglia train to Cambridge and change there for services to London Liverpool Street

  • Travel on an East Midlands Railway train towards Liverpool Lime Street. Change at Ely for Great Northern services to London Kings Cross

Travelling from London to Norwich (approximate journey time up to 3 hours)

  • Travel on a Stansted Express service from London Liverpool Street to Stansted Airport and change there for services to Norwich

  • Travel on Greater Anglia trains to Cambridge and change there for the first available train to Ely. Change again at Ely for the first available train to Norwich

Ipswich:

Travelling from Ipswich to London (approximate journey time up to 3 hours)

  • Travel on a Greater Anglia train from Ipswich and Stowmarket to Cambridge and change there for services to London Liverpool Street

Travelling from London to Ipswich (approximate journey time up to 3 hours)

  • Travel on the Greater Anglia train from London Liverpool Street to Cambridge and change there for services to Ipswich
