Between Exeter St Davids / Weymouth / Salisbury / Gillingham (Dorset) / Salisbury / Haslemere / Basingstoke / Alton and London Waterloo

Description

Whilst the fire next to the track in the Woking area has been extinguished, it has caused an issue with the cable that delivers power to the tracks. Some lines towards London are blocked while engineers investigate further.

Services running through Woking may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 40 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 20:00.

Customer advice:

Long distance and mainline services:

  • Services that pass through Woking may face delays due to congestion caused by the ongoing incident as trains travelling towards London Waterloo can only use platform 1 and not platform 2

  • Portsmouth Harbour to London Waterloo services may be diverted where possible after Guildford, heading via Cobham rather than Woking, this is to reduce congestion in the Woking area

  • It has been confirmed that Exeter St Davids / Salisbury to London Waterloo services can run through Woking as these trains do not require power from the track. These services however may finish at Basingstoke to further reduce congestion

Additional Information:

We have been informed of a fire next to the track at Woking station, which is believed to be a cable fire. This has caused a signalling issue and response teams are being sent to deal with any fire and investigating further. They have since confirmed from initial their investigations that only the slow line towards London Waterloo is unable to have trains run on it. This means trains can now run from Woking to London Waterloo on the fast line.
