Description

Lines have reopened following an earlier trespass incident in the Woodsmoor area.

As services recover, trains between Stockport and Buxton / Sheffield may still be cancelled or delayed by up to 40 minutes or diverted.

Disruption is expected until 17:00.

East Midlands Railway customer advice:

Trains running through the area (in both directions) may continue to be delayed due to congestion or will be diverted.

The priority now will be to get trains running back to their advertised times again. East Midlands Railway expect their advertised services to resume on the affected routes by 15:30.

Where services are diverted, they will be unable to call at Stockport. To get to Stockport, please make your way to Manchester Piccadilly. You can can change here for Avanti West Coast and CrossCountry trains to take you to Stockport. Your ticket can be used to do this at no additional cost.

East Midlands Railway have arranged for your tickets to be used at no extra cost on Northern and TransPennine Express services between Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly.

Northern customer advice:

To help you complete your journey, your ticket can also be used at no extra cost on Bee Network bus 192 until disruption ends.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

TransPennine Express customer advice:

TransPennine Express services may divert and not call at Stockport.

Your ticket can be used on the following, at no extra cost:

  • East Midlands Railway services between Manchester Piccadilly and Sheffield

  • Northern and services between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport (in both directions)

  • Transport for Wales services between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport (in both directions) until 15:00

You should continue to travel as planned, however, your journey may be delayed.
