Description

Engineering work is taking place at various locations between Wigan North Western and Lancaster at varying times, closing lines.

Avanti West Coast

Saturday from 12:15 and all day Sunday

  • No trains will run between Warrington Bank Quay and Carlisle.

Monday

  • Trains between Birmingham International and Scotland will run between Birmingham International and Wigan North Western only.
  • Trains between London Euston and Scotland will run between London Euston and Warrington Bank Quay only.

Northern

Sunday

Until 08:15:

  • Buses will replace trains between Manchester Airport and Manchester Piccadilly.

All day:

  • Trains between Blackpool North and York will start / terminate at Blackburn. Buses will be provided between Preston and Blackburn.
  • Trains between Carlisle and Whitehaven / Barrow-in-Furness will start / terminate from Maryport. Buses will be provided between Carlisle and Workington.
  • Trains between Blackpool North and Manchester Airport will start / terminate at Buckshaw Parkway and will call additionally at Adlington, Blackrod and Lostock. Buses will be provided between Preston and Buckshaw Parkway.
  • Trains between Barrow-in-Furness and Manchester Airport will terminate at Lancaster, buses will be provided between Lancaster and Preston. Customers should use alternative services between Preston and Manchester Airport.
  • Trains between Blackpool South and Colne will start / terminate at Blackburn. Buses will operate between Blackburn and Preston. Additional trains will be provided between Blackpool South and Kirkham & Wesham.
  • Trains will run between Preston / Lancaster and Windemere. 

Monday:

  • The 05:53 Carlisle to Barrow-in-Furness service will start from Maryport. A bus will be provided from Carlisle to Workington, departing earlier than the normally advertised train time. 
  • Trains between Blackpool North and Manchester Airport / Hazel Grove will start / terminate at Buckshaw Parkway and will call additionally at Adlington, Blackrod and Lostock. Buses will be provided between Preston and Buckshaw Parkway.
  • Trains between Barrow-in-Furness and Manchester Airport will terminate at Preston, customers should use alternative services between Preston and Manchester Airport. 
  • Trains between Blackpool South and Preston will be extended to run to Blackburn to provide increased capacity. 
  • Trains will run between Preston / Lancaster and Windemere. 

TransPennine Express

  • On Sunday and Monday there will be no TransPennine Express services between Manchester Airport / Liverpool Lime Street and Preston.
  • Replacement coaches will operate between Manchester Airport and Preston direct with journey times extended by ten minutes.
  • There will be no TransPennine Express replacement coaches in place by TransPennine Express between Liverpool Lime Street and Preston.
