Terms & Conditions

To qualify for a Unizone ticket you’ll need a valid 16-17 Saver or 16-25 railcard (please note we cannot accept the 26-30 railcard), and either:

Valid ID confirming that you are a student at:

  • University of Sussex

  • University of Chichester

  • Plumpton College

  • BHASVIC

  • Varndean College who holds one of the new style college ID cards, which includes your photo and has an expiry date.

All other students at Varndean College will need to continue to hold a valid TOTUM physical plastic card as detailed below

  • Hove Park Sixth Form College who holds one of the new style college ID cards, which includes your photo and has an expiry date.

All other students at Hove Park Sixth Form College will need to continue to hold a valid TOTUM physical plastic card as detailed below

  • Dv8 Sussex who holds one of the new style college ID cards, which includes your photo and has an expiry date.

All other students at Dv8 Sussex will need to continue to hold a valid TOTUM physical plastic card as detailed below

  • Newman College who holds one of the new style college ID cards, which includes your photo and has an expiry date.

All other students at Newman College will need to continue to hold a valid TOTUM physical plastic card as detailed below

  • Brighton Aldridge Community Academy (BACA College) with an ID card, that includes your photo and has an expiry date.

If your ID card doesn’t include your photo and an expiry date, you will need to hold a valid TOTUM physical plastic card as detailed below.

Or:

  • A National Union of Students (NUS) Extra physical plastic card or a TOTUM physical plastic card* (sorry we can't accept the digital TOTUM card), for a university or college in Sussex.


*Except for the TOTUM PRO card, we can accept any other TOTUM physical plastic card for a university or college in Sussex.

We can't accept your ID card, NUS Extra card or TOTUM card if it has expired or doesn't have an expiry date.

  • Hold a valid 16-25 Railcard and Photocard or valid 16-17 Saver

We can't accept your ID card, NUS Extra card, TOTUM card. 16-25 Railcard or 16-17 Saver if it's expired or doesn't have an expiry date.

Restrictions: 

  • You can't buy a Unizone ticket at Ticket Vending Machines or on the train.

  • Please ensure you have your identity card and Railcard/Saver on every journey, to validate the Season Ticket

  • The NUS extra / TOTUM digital card (phone App) CANNOT be used as ID to obtain the Unizone ticket.

  • Staff university identity cards are NOT valid for purchasing Unizone tickets

    You can buy your Brighton Unizone Season ticket from any Ticket Office at the stations listed above.

    If you also need the Worthing Unizone Season ticket to cover your journey National Rail Enquiries - Unizone Worthing, you can buy both zones from any Ticket Office in either the Brighton or Worthing Unizone areas. 

    They're not available to buy on trains or at self-service ticket machines..
