Bank Holiday Information: Avanti West Coast

Early May Bank Holiday information:

Saturday 4 May

Due to engineering work taking place between London Euston and Milton Keynes Central, and in other locations, an amended train service will run to / from London Euston:

  • Two trains per hour will run between London Euston and Manchester Piccadilly (both via Stoke-on-Trent)

  • One train per hour between London Euston and Liverpool Lime Street (diverted between Stafford and Crewe)

  • One train per hour between London Euston and Glasgow Central (via diversionary routes)

  • One train every two hours between Preston and Edinburgh.

  • Trains between London Euston and Holyhead will run between Crewe and Holyhead only.

  • No trains will run between Rugby and Birmingham New Street.

  • An hourly shuttle service will run between Birmingham International and Stafford, via Birmingham New Street.

Replacement bus information has not been confirmed yet, please check back for more information closer to the time of travel.

Due to engineering work between Stafford and Crewe, replacement buses will operate between Crewe and Preston.

Trains between Stafford and Crewe will be diverted to run via Alsager, and will run to an amended timetable.

Trains between Holyhead and London Euston will run between Holyhead and Crewe only.

Due to engineering work between Coventry and Birmingham New Street, buses will replace trains between Rugby and Birmingham International via Coventry.

A shuttle service will run between Birmingham New Street and Stafford.

Sunday 5 May

Due to engineering work closing the lines between London Euston and Milton Keynes Central, no trains will run between London Euston and Milton Keynes Central.

An amended train service will run to / from London Euston:

  • Two trains per hour will run between Milton Keynes Central and Manchester Piccadilly (both via Macclesfield)

  • One train per hour will run between Milton Keynes Central and Preston via Stafford, Alsager, Crewe and Bolton

  • No services will run to / from Scotland as the line north of Carlisle is closed for engineering work

  • No services will run to / from Liverpool Lime Street as the line to / from Liverpool is closed for engineering work

  • Trains between London Euston and Holyhead will run between Crewe and Holyhead only

  • An hourly shuttle service will run between Birmingham International and Crewe, via Birmingham New Street, Stafford and Alsager

  • No trains will run between Rugby and Birmingham New Street.

Due to engineering work between Carlisle and Glasgow Central, no trains will run between Preston and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh.

  • London Euston - Birmingham New Street: Half-hourly service in each direction for most of the day, with one every 2-hours extended to Wolverhampton.

  • London Euston - Manchester Piccadilly: Half-hourly service in each direction via Stoke-on-Trent.

  • North Wales coast services operate between Crewe and Holyhead in each direction.
