Early May Bank Holiday Travel Advice

Saturday 2 May

Normal service

No changes to train services have been announced.

Sunday 3 May

Buses will be replacing trains between Clapham Junction and Barnes

Due to engineering work, buses will be replacing trains all day in both directions between Clapham Junction and Barnes. In addition the following service changes will be made:

  • London Waterloo - Reading: Trains will be revised to depart London Waterloo earlier and will be diverted between Clapham Junction and Twickenham. These services will call additionally at Wimbledon, Kingston and Strawberry Hill

  • London Waterloo - Windsor: Trains will be revised. An hourly service will be diverted between Clapham Junction and Twickenham via Kingston calling at all stations. An hourly service will start from Barnes calling at all stations

  • London Waterloo - London Waterloo via Richmond and Wimbledon: Trains will be revised and will run between Barnes and Kingston only

  • London Waterloo - Woking via Staines: Trains will be revised and will start from Barnes

  • London Waterloo - Kingston via Hounslow: Afternoon and evening services will not run

  • Barnes - Twickenham via Richmond: In the morning and early afternoon, a revised service will run. In the afternoon and evening, a revised service will run between Barnes and Barnes via Hounslow

Changes to services between Basingstoke and Southampton Central

Due to engineering work closing the lines between Basingstoke and Winchester, the following service changes will be made:

  • London Waterloo - Weymouth: Trains will be re-timed and diverted via Guildford, calling additionally at Guildford, Havant and Fareham

  • London Waterloo - Portsmouth Harbour: Trains will run between London Waterloo and Basingstoke

  • London Waterloo - Poole: Trains will run between Southampton Central and Poole

  • Poole - Eastleigh: Trains will terminate at Southampton Central

  • Romsey - Salisbury: Trains will run between Southampton Central and Salisbury

  • Southampton Central - Portsmouth & Southsea via Netley and Fareham: Trains will run throughout

  • Eastleigh - Portsmouth Harbour via Fareham: Trains will not run



Buses will replace trains between:

  • Basingstoke and Southampton Central

  • Basingstoke and Fareham via Eastleigh

  • Romsey and Southampton Central via Eastleigh

Buses will be replacing trains between Guildford and Surbiton / Leatherhead

Due to engineering work, buses will be replacing trains all day between Guildford and Surbiton, and between Guildford and Leatherhead via Effingham Junction.

Monday 4 May - Early May Bank Holiday

Amended South Western Railway service on Early May Bank Holiday Monday

As a result of the Bank Holiday, a Saturday level of service will operate on Monday 4 May, but with an amended service later in the day.

Late May Bank Holiday Travel Advice

Long term improvement work will affect Berrylands and Wandsworth Town stations throughout the Late May Bank Holiday weekend.

Saturday 23 May

Buses will be replacing trains between Woking and Guildford

Due to engineering work, buses will replace trains between Woking and Guildford. There will also be the following service changes:

  • London Waterloo - Portsmouth Harbour via Guildford: Trains will be revised to depart London Waterloo earlier and will be diverted between Clapham Junction and Guildford

  • London Waterloo - Portsmouth & Southsea via Guildford: Trains will start from Guildford

  • London Waterloo - Weymouth: Some services will be revised to depart London Waterloo earlier and will call additionally at Woking

  • London Waterloo - Guildford via Cobham: Trains will be revised to depart London Waterloo later

Sunday 24 May

Buses will be replacing trains between Woking and Guildford

Due to engineering work, buses will replace trains between Woking and Guildford. There will also be the following service changes:

  • London Waterloo - Portsmouth Harbour via Guildford: Trains will be revised to depart London Waterloo earlier and will be diverted between Clapham Junction and Guildford

  • London Waterloo - Guildford via Woking: Stopping services will terminate at Woking

  • London Waterloo / Wimbledon - Guildford via Cobham: Trains will be revised

Monday 25 May - Late May Bank Holiday

Amended South Western Railway service on Late May Bank Holiday Monday

As a result of the Bank Holiday, a Saturday level of service will operate for most of Monday 25 May, but with an amended service later in the day.

Buses will be replacing trains between Fareham / Havant and Portsmouth Harbour

Due to engineering work closing lines in the Portsmouth area:

  • London Waterloo - Portsmouth Harbour via Eastleigh: Trains from London will terminate at, and start back from Fareham

  • Southampton Central - Portsmouth & Southsea: 'Stopping' trains from Southampton will terminate at, and start back from Fareham

  • London Waterloo - Portsmouth Harbour via Guildford: Trains from London will be revised and will terminate at, and start back from Havant

  • Buses will be replacing trains between Fareham and Portsmouth Harbour, and between Havant and Portsmouth Harbour
