Bank Holiday Information: Thameslink

Saturday 24 August

Due to engineering work in the Denmark Hill area, Thameslink trains between London Blackfriars and Sevenoaks will be diverted to run via Herne Hill and Beckenham Junction, calling additionally at these stations. These trains will not call at stations between Denmark Hill and Ravensbourne. Replacement buses will run between Herne Hill and Bromley South to provide connections with the missed out stations.

After 22:00, the weekend's major engineering work will start between St Neots and London Kings Cross. As a result, the following late night changes will be made:

Buses will replace trains between:

  • Potters Bar and Hitchin

  • Stevenage and St Albans via Hatfield (for alternative Thameslink train services between St Albans and London)

  • Hertford North and Stevenage

  • Hitchin and Royston

  • Hitchin and St Neots

  • St Neots and Bedford (for alternative Thameslink train services between Bedford and London).

An amended train service will run between:

  • London Kings Cross and Potters Bar

  • Moorgate and Hertford North / Potters Bar

  • Royston and Kings Lynn

  • St Neots and Peterborough


Sunday 25 August

All day, major engineering work will be taking place between St Neots and London Kings Cross. As a result, the following changes will be made:

Buses will replace trains between:

  • St Neots and Hitchin

  • St Neots and Bedford (for alternative Thameslink train services between Bedford and London)

  • Royston and Hitchin

  • Stevenage and Luton Airport Parkway via Hitchin (for alternative Thameslink train services between Luton Airport Parkway and London)

  • St Albans and Stevenage calling at Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City, Welwyn North, Knebworth and Stevenage

  • Hertford North and Stevenage

  • Potters Bar and Hitchin

  • Finsbury Park and Hertford North / Hitchin (until approximately 09:00)

A revised train service will run between:

  • Royston and Cambridge / Ely / Kings Lynn

  • St Neots and Peterborough

  • Moorgate and Hertford North / Potters Bar (Trains start after approximately 09:00. Buses replace trains on these routes from start of service until approximately 09:00)

  • London Kings Cross and Potters Bar (Trains start after approximately 09:00. Buses replace trains on this route from start of service until approximately 09:00)

  • Finsbury Park and Brighton (Thameslink).

Monday 26 August - August Bank Holiday

Thameslink services will run to an amended timetable on the August Bank Holiday, subject to the following engineering work.

Due to engineering work in the Denmark Hill area, Thameslink trains between London Blackfriars and Sevenoaks will be diverted to run via Herne Hill and Beckenham Junction, calling additionally at these stations. These trains will not call at stations between Denmark Hill and Ravensbourne. Replacement buses will run between Herne Hill and Bromley South to provide connections with the missed out stations.

In addition, the 23:46 London Blackfriars to Sevenoaks service will be diverted after Bickley, calling additionally at Petts Wood and Orpington. This is due to late night engineering work between Bromley South and Sevenoaks via Bat & Ball. A replacement bus will run from Bromley to Sevenoaks via Otford.

Until 08:30, the conclusion of the weekend's major engineering work will be taking place between St Neots and London Kings Cross. As a result, the following changes will be made:

Buses will replace early morning trains between:

  • Potters Bar and Hitchin

  • Stevenage and St Albans via Hatfield (for alternative Thameslink train services between St Albans and London)

  • Hertford North and Stevenage

  • Hitchin and Royston

  • Hitchin and St Neots

  • St Neots and Bedford (for alternative Thameslink train services between Bedford and London).

An amended early morning train service will run between:

  • London Kings Cross and Potters Bar

  • Moorgate and Hertford North / Potters Bar

  • Royston and Kings Lynn

  • St Neots and Peterborough


After 22:45, trains will not call at Earlswood or Salfords stations due to overnight engineering work. Buses will run between Horley and Redhill, to provide connections with these stations.
