Major engineering work: Significant engineering works will be taking place across the festive period, closing the Thameslink route between London and Harpenden for 9 days. This will also affect services to and from Gatwick Airport. After Christmas, there will be line closures in the Cambridge area with bus replacement operating.
Saturday 21 December
Thameslink services will not be able to run between Harpenden and London due to major engineering work. The following changes will be made to Thameslink services:
Services between St Albans City and Sutton via Mitcham Junction will only run between London Blackfriars and Sutton via Wimbledon (2 trains per hour)
Services between Bedford / Luton and Three Bridges will not run. These services will run between London Bridge and Brighton (2 trains per hour)
Services to / from Rainham will only run between London Bridge and Rainham (1 train per hour)
Additional services will run between Bedford and Harpenden (4 trains per hour)
Rail replacement buses will run between:
Luton Airport Parkway and Hitchin (to connect with alternative London trains)
Harpenden, St Albans City and Potters Bar (to connect with alternative London trains)
London St Pancras International and Harpenden

Thameslink services will not be able to run between Harpenden and London due to major engineering work. There will also be no train services between Cambridge North, Cambridge and Royston because of engineering work.
The following changes will be made to Thameslink (and Great Northern) services:
