Tuesday 23 December

Amended 22:40 Cardiff Central to Bridgend via Barry service

Due to late night engineering work, the 22:40 Cardiff Central to Bridgend via Barry train will terminate at Barry.

A replacement bus will run from Barry to Bridgend.

Wednesday 24 December

Trains will finish earlier than normal

Transport for Wales services will finish earlier than normal on Christmas Eve.

All services will finish running by 23:00. Some services will be terminating earlier than normal and other trains have been cancelled.

Thursday 25 December - Christmas Day

No service

There will be no Transport for Wales services on Christmas Day.

Friday 26 December - Boxing Day

No service

There will be no Transport for Wales services on Boxing Day.

Saturday 27 December

Amended service on some routes to and from Cardiff Central

Due to engineering work in the Cardiff area, the following changes will be made:

• Cardiff Central - Bridgend (main line through Pontyclun): Buses will be replacing trains

• Cardiff Central - Penarth: Buses will be replacing trains

• Cardiff Central - Barry Island: Buses will be replacing trains between Cardiff Central and Cogan. Trains will operate between Cogan and Barry Island

• Trains will be running between Bridgend and Maesteg / Swansea / Carmarthen

Sunday 28 December

Amended service on some routes to and from Cardiff Central

Due to engineering work in the Cardiff area, the following changes will be made:

• Cardiff Central - Bridgend (main line through Pontyclun): Buses will be replacing trains

During these hours trains will run between Manchester Piccadilly / Cardiff Central and Whitland. Rail replacement buses will run between Whitland and Milford Haven.

The last train able to run before the engineering works start will be the 09:00 Milford Haven to Manchester Piccadilly.

The first train able to run after the engineering works finish will be the 15:44 Carmarthen to Milford Haven.

There will be a planned early shutdown from 21:00.

Between 09:25 and 14:35, engineering work will close the lines between Clarbeston Road and Milford Haven.

During these hours trains will run between Manchester Piccadilly / Cardiff Central and Haverfordwest. Rail replacement buses will run between Haverfordwest and Milford Haven.

The last train able to run before the engineering works start will be the 09:00 Milford Haven to Manchester Piccadilly.

The first train able to run after the engineering works finish will be the 13:55 Carmarthen to Milford Haven.

Thursday 1 January 2026 - New Year's Day

Changes to services to and from Milford Haven

Between 09:25 and 14:35, engineering work will close the lines between Clarbeston Road and Milford Haven.

During these hours trains will run between Manchester Piccadilly / Cardiff Central and Haverfordwest. Rail replacement buses will run between Haverfordwest and Milford Haven.

The last train able to run before the engineering works start will be the 09:00 Milford Haven to Manchester Piccadilly.

The first train able to run after the engineering works finish will be the 13:55 Carmarthen to Milford Haven.

Late night service changes through Llanelli and Swansea

Due to late night engineering work, the following trains will be diverted via an alternative route and will not call at stations between Llanelli and Briton Ferry via Swansea:

• 21:46 Fishguard Harbour to Cardiff Central

• 23:20 Cardiff Central to Carmarthen

Rail replacement buses to provide connections with the missed out stations will run as follows:

• Llanelli to Port Talbot Parkway, departing Llanelli at 23:19

• Port Talbot Parkway to Carmarthen, departing Port Talbot Parkway at 00:13

Late night service changes between Ebbw Vale Town and Cardiff Central

Due to late night engineering work, the following trains will be diverted via Newport:

• 22:09 Maesteg to Ebbw Vale Town

• 22:12 Ebbw Vale Town to Cardiff Central

• 23:15 Ebbw Vale Town to Cardiff Central

Friday 2 January

Normal service

No changes to Transport for Wales services have been announced.
