Long term improvement work: Engineering work is taking place between Caerphilly and Rhymney, closing all lines from Saturday 19 July to Sunday 31 August. As a result, on Saturday 23, Sunday 24 and Monday 25 August, buses will replace trains between Caerphilly and Rhymney, calling at all stations.
Saturday 23 August
Buses will be replacing trains between Bridgend and Maesteg
Due to engineering work closing the line all day between Bridgend and Maesteg, trains between Ebbw Vale Town and Maesteg will terminate at, and start back from Bridgend. Buses will replace trains between Bridgend and Maesteg.
Amended service all day to, from and through Pontypridd
Due to engineering work closing the line all day between Radyr and Taffs Well, the following service changes will be made:
Cardiff Central - Pontypridd via Llandaf: No trains will run. Replacement bus services will run between Cardiff Central and Pontypridd via Llandaf
Cardiff Central - Pontypridd via Ninian Park (City Line): No trains will run. You can use Cardiff Buses at no extra cost between Cardiff Central and Pontypridd via Ninian Park, Waun-gron Park, Fairwater, and Danescourt
Cardiff Bay - Pontypridd: Trains will run between Cardiff Bay and Cardiff Queen Street only
Pontypridd - Treherbert / Aberdare / Merthyr Tydfil: An hourly train service will run
Changes to late night services in the Carmarthen area
Due to the start of overnight engineering work, the following service changes will be made on Saturday night:
21:07 Pembroke Dock to Carmarthen service will instead run from Pembroke Dock to Swansea
22:18 Pembroke Dock to Carmarthen service will terminate at Whitland. A replacement bus service will run from Whitland to Carmarthen, departing at 23:24
23:08 Milford Haven to Carmarthen service will terminate at Haverfordwest. A replacement bus service will run from Haverfordwest to Carmarthen, departing at 23:32
00:12 (Sunday) Swansea to Carmarthen service will not run. A replacement bus service will run from Swansea to Carmarthen
Sunday 24 August
No Transport for Wales service between Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International
Due to engineering work closing the line all day between Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International, Transport for Wales services will terminate at and start back from Birmingham New Street, and will not run through to Birmingham International.
Buses will be replacing trains between Bridgend and Maesteg
Due to engineering work closing the line all day between Bridgend and Maesteg, trains between Ebbw Vale Town and Maesteg will terminate at, and start back from Bridgend. Buses will replace trains between Bridgend and Maesteg.
Amended service until 13:00 to, from and through Pontypridd
Due to morning engineering work closing the line between Radyr and Taffs Well, the following service changes will be made until 13:00:

Changes to early morning services in the Carmarthen area
Due to the conclusion of overnight engineering work, the following service changes will be made on Sunday morning:
07:48 Carmarthen to Pembroke Dock service will start from Whitland. A replacement bus service will run from Carmarthen to Whitland, departing earlier than the train at 07:34
08:53 Carmarthen to Swansea service will not run. A replacement bus service will run from Carmarthen to Swansea
Late night route diversion between Cardiff Central and Bridgend
After 22:15, due to the line being closed late on Sunday night between Cardiff Central and Bridgend via Pontyclun, trains will be diverted via the Vale of Glamorgan line (running through Barry and Rhoose) with extended journey times.
Monday 25 August - Bank Holiday Monday
No Transport for Wales service between Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International
Due to engineering work closing the line all day between Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International, Transport for Wales services will terminate at and start back from Birmingham New Street, and will not run through to Birmingham International.
Late night service changes due to engineering work between Cardiff Central and Bridgend
After 20:30, due to engineering work on Monday night between Cardiff Central and Bridgend via Pontyclun, the following service changes will be made:
20:38 Milford Haven to Cardiff Central train will be diverted (via Llantwit Major)
21:46 Fishguard Harbour to Cardiff Central train will be diverted (via Llantwit Major)
22:27 Cardiff Central to Carmarthen train will depart 3 minutes later at 22:30 and will be retimed throughout
23:16 Cardiff Central to Maesteg train will be replaced by a bus, departing Cardiff Central at 23:20
23:20 Cardiff Central to Carmarthen train will be diverted (via Llantwit Major). A replacement bus service will run between Cardiff Central and Bridgend calling at Pontyclun, Llanharan and Pencoed
Evening service changes through Newport
After 19:30, due to late night engineering work in the Newport area, services on the route between Manchester Piccadilly and Cardiff Central will run to an amended timetable. Some journey times will be extended. Please check your journey before travelling.
