The Commonwealth Games return to Glasgow in Scotland this summer, for the UK’s biggest sporting event of 2026. For 11 action-packed days Glasgow will play host to a celebration of sport, culture and community like no other.
10 different sports will be taking place, 6 of which will also have Para events. There will be world-class athletics, swimming, track cycling, boxing, netball and much more, with something for everyone. The 4 different venues to be used are within an 8-mile corridor which puts fans, athletes and the city side by side.
So why not travel by train to Glasgow this Summer, to watch the Commonwealth Games and witness all the excitement first-hand by being there.
You can use the train to travel to and from the event
You can travel by train to each of the 4 venues that are hosting events at the Commonwealth Games.
To travel to and from the event by train simply book your ticket to the nearest recommended station to your event venue (see below). Depending on your plans, you may prefer to get a ticket from your local station to and from Glasgow, and then buy separate tickets to travel to and from the different venues.
You can use the National Rail journey planner to plan your travel between your local station and the recommended station for your chosen sport.
Train tickets generally go on sale approximately 12 weeks before the event.

Which railway station should I travel to for the Commonwealth Games?
Take the train to Glasgow, then change trains and make your way to the venue using local ScotRail trains (unless you live in the local area, in which case you may be able to travel direct to your chosen venue without needing to change trains).

Scotstoun Stadium
Commonwealth Games events there: athletics, para athletics
Venue: Scotstoun Stadium is part of the Scotstoun Sports Campus located in the West End of Glasgow. Glasgow Warriors rugby play their home games there
Recommended station for Scotstoun Stadium: Scotstounhill station is a short distance from the stadium. There is step-free access to all platforms which may be accessed via long or steep ramps or via streets. Regular trains run between Scotstounhill station and Glasgow Central station with train journeys taking approximately 14 minutes
Tollcross International Swimming Centre
Commonwealth Games events there: swimming, para swimming
Venue: Tollcross International Swimming Centre has significant major events pedigree. It has a competition standard 50m pool and availability of additional pools for warm up and training
Recommended station for Tollcross Intenational Swimming Centre: Carntyne station is a short distance from the venue. There is step-free access to all platforms which may be accessed via long or steep ramps or via streets. Regular trains run between Carntyne station and Glasgow Queen Street station with train journeys taking approximately 8 minutes
Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome and Arena
Commonwealth Games events there: track cycling, para track cycling, artistic gymnastics
Venue: Named after the 11-time World Champion, 6-time Olympic champion and 2-time Commonwealth Champion, The Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome and Arena is located in Dalmarnock in the East End of Glasgow
Recommended station for Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome and Arena: Dalmarnock station is a short distance from the venue. There is step-free access to all platforms. Regular trains run between Dalmarnock station and Glasgow Central station with train journeys taking approximately 7 minutes
Scottish Event Campus (SEC)
Commonwealth Games events there: netball (in The Hydro); weightlifting, para powerlifting (in The SEC Armadillo); 3X3 basketball, 3X3 wheelchair basketball, bowls, para bowls, boxing, judo (in The SEC Centre)
Venue: The Scottish Event Campus (SEC) features the SEC Centre, 5 interconnected exhibition and meeting spaces, the iconic SEC Armadillo and the most recent addition, The Hydro – a concert, sporting and special events arena. During the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, the SEC will be home to 6 sports across the whole Campus
Recommended station for Scottish Event Campus (SEC): Exhibition Centre (Glasgow) station is a very short distance across a bridge from the main concourse at the SEC venue. There is step-free access to all platforms at the station. Regular trains run between Exhibition Centre (Glasgow) station and Glasgow Central station with train journeys taking approximately 4 minutes
What travel tickets do I need to buy?
You’ll need to buy tickets to make your train journey from your local station to and from the recommended railway station for your event.
The Commonwealth Games is a ticketed event. So, to get in, you’ll need an event ticket for each sport session you want to watch. Check out the daily schedule to see when and where the action you want to see will unfold. Ticket prices begin at £26 for medal sessions, £17 for non-medal sessions and £12 for concession tickets.
