Great Western Railway between Cardiff Central and Portsmouth Harbour

South Western Railway between Salisbury and Romsey

Description

Heavy rain has flooded the railway in the Dean area, closing all lines. Trains running between Salisbury and Romsey may be cancelled, delayed until lines reopen or revised.

Disruption is expected until approximately 19:00.

Great Western Railway customer advice:

You may use your ticket, at no extra cost to travel via Reading and then use a CrossCountry service between Reading and Southampton Central.

If you are travelling towards Salisbury, Southampton Central and Portsmouth Harbour you can travel at no extra cost on South Western Railway. Please note, South Western Railway are also affected by this disruption.

Replacement transport has not been requested at this time.

Great Western Railway advise considering postponing your journey until their service returns to normal.

South Western Railway customer advice:

Trains between Salisbury and Romsey have been suspended as a result of heavy rain flooding the railway.

In order to help you complete your journey at no extra cost to yourself, ticket acceptance is in place on the following local buses:

  • Beeline Coaches route 24 between Frome, Warminster and Salisbury

  • Morebus route X3 between Salisbury, Pokesdown and Bournemouth

  • Stagecoach Buses route 66 between Romsey and Winchester

  • Bluestar Buses route 1 between Southampton Central, Chandlers Ford and Winchester

  • Bluestar Buses route 4 between Romsey and Southampton Central

  • Bluestar Buses route 5 between Romsey and Eastleigh

  • Stagecoach route 76 between Basingstoke, Overton, Whitchurch and Andover

Passengers requiring Southampton Central from Salisbury can use their tickets on services to Basingstoke to change for services to Southampton Central.

In addition to the above, rail replacement buses have been confirmed to call at all stations between Salisbury and Romsey as required by station staff.
