Description

All lines have now reopened following an earlier gas leak near the railway at Doncaster. Trains running to / from and through this station may continue to be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes, revised or diverted.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

CrossCountry customer advice:

You may use your ticket on the following services at no extra cost until 18:00:

  • LNER between Edinburgh and Doncaster

  • Northern services between York and Leeds / Doncaster and Sheffield

If your CrossCountry train is cancelled, then you can use your ticket on the two CrossCountry services operating before and the two CrossCountry services after your cancelled service.

Seat reservations will not be carried over to another train, but Coach B, H and L are unreserved coaches on CrossCountry services (where available) so please head to them. You can view the formation of our trains.

If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost.

You may use your ticket onboard the following services at no extra cost:

  • CrossCountry via any reasonable route

  • Northern via any reasonable route

  • Thameslink between Peterborough and London Kings Cross

What's happened?

Services at Doncaster are currently disrupted following a gas leak near the railway.

How does this affect my journey?

All lines have now reopened at Doncaster and trains are now able to call at the station. However, due to length of time that lines were shut, trains will remain disrupted for some time.

Whilst service recovers, services on the following routes will be subject to delays and cancellations:

  • Between Scunthorpe and Doncaster

  • Between Scarborough and Sheffield

  • Between Hull and Doncaster

  • Between Leeds and Doncaster

  • Between Adwick and Sheffield


What should I do?

You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.

You can also travel on the following operators on any reasonable route at no extra cost:

  • CrossCountry

  • LNER

  • TransPennine Express

Please note that other train operators may also be affected by disruption – please check your whole journey before travelling.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

  • Northern services between Doncaster and Sheffield in both directions

  • TransPennine Express services between Cleethorpes and Sheffield in both directions.
