Description

There are multiple incidents ongoing on various routes across the Great Northern, Southern and Thameslink networks.

As a result, trains may be cancelled, delayed or revised.

This is expected until 21:00.

Customer advice:

Southern, Thameslink, and Great Northern services have been affected by a number of disruptive incidents across our network today. This is causing a significant disruption on some routes. Specifically, services are affected by the below incidents:

  • A number of incidents between Brighton, Hastings, and Ashford

  • A fault with the overhead lines between Cambridge, Ely, and Kings Lynn

  • The fire alarm sounding at Farringdon

  • A points failure between Oxted and Uckfield

  • Heat-related disruption between Shepherds Bush and Clapham Junction


Disruption to journeys south of London

Trains running between Brighton, Eastbourne, Hastings, and Ashford have been disrupted by a number of incidents. Journeys through this area will be subject to delays and alterations. You should allow an additional 45 minutes to complete journeys through this area. Your ticket will be accepted on the below alternatives at no additional cost:

  • Southeastern services via Tonbridge, running to / from London, Hastings, or Ashford International

  • Alternative Southern services between Ashford, Lewes, Brighton, and London

  • Thameslink services between Brighton and London

  • London Underground services between London Bridge and London Victoria

  • Stagecoach Buses 99 between Eastbourne and Hastings, for Pevensey Bay, Bexhill, and St Leonards Warrior Square

  • Stagecoach 100 between Rye and Hastings

Services that usually run to / from Uckfield are subject to disruption, due to a points failure. You may need to travel using an alternative route. You can travel to/from Uckfield and Crowborough using the below alternatives at no extra cost:

  • Brighton & Hove Buses 29 between Brighton, Lewes, Uckfield, Crowborough, and Tunbridge Wells

  • Alternative Southern services via Lewes

  • Southeastern services between Tunbridge Wells and London

  • London Underground between London Bridge and London Victoria


Disruption in the London area

Heat-related disruption is affecting services which usually run between Clapham Junction and Watford Junction. These services may be cancelled, or altered to not run along their full journey. Alternative routes (with ticket acceptance at no extra cost) include the below:

  • Southern services to / from London Victoria, London Underground between London Victoria and Euston, and London Overground between Euston and Watford Junction

  • London Overground services between Clapham Junction, Willesden Junction, and Euston

  • London Buses between Clapham Junction and Watford Junction


Disruption to journeys north of London

Great Northern services are currently unable to run between Cambridge, Ely, and Kings Lynn, due to damage to the overhead power lines. The following alternatives, on which your ticket will be accepted at no additional cost, are in place:

  • Great Northern and Thameslink services between London and Cambridge, and London and Peterborough

  • Greater Anglia services between London Liverpool Street, Cambridge, and Ely

  • CrossCountry services between Cambridge, Ely and Peterborough

  • East Midlands Railway services between Ely and Peterborough

  • London Underground between London Liverpool Street and other London Terminals

Additionally, replacement buses are running between Cambridge, Ely, and Kings Lynn, stopping at all stations en route. These are running under instruction of station staff, and as a result will not be advertised on station screens.

  • London Overground services via Willesden Junction, to/from Watford Junction, Euston, and Clapham Junction

  • London Buses between Clapham Junction and Watford Junction

  • Brighton & Hove 29 between Brighton, Lewes, Uckfield, Crowborough, and Tunbridge Wells

  • Stagecoach 99 between Eastbourne and Hastings, for Pevensey Bay, Bexhill, and St Leonards Warrior Square

  • Stagecoach 100 between Rye and Hastings

A number of incidents have disrupted Gatwick Express, Great Northern, Southern, and Thameslink services today.

These include:

  • The fire alarm sounding at Farringdon

  • Heat-related disruption between Clapham Junction and Watford Junction

  • Damage to the overhead power lines between Cambridge, Ely, and Kings Lynn

  • A points failure between Oxted and Uckfield

  • A number of incidents between Brighton, Hastings, and Ashford (these included a signalling fault, trespassers on the railway, and animals on the line)
