Description

A fault with the signalling system at London Blackfriars means that fewer trains are able to run on the line towards London Bridge / Elephant & Castle. As a result, trains running between London St Pancras International and London Bridge may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 09:30.

You may need to change trains to complete your journey and allow extra time to arrive at your destination.

Services running towards London Bridge are being affected by delays of up to 15 minutes.

  • Trains that normally run between Bedford and East Grinstead have been suspended

  • Trains that normally run between Luton and Orpington have been suspended

  • Trains that normally run between Cambridge and Brighton have been suspended

  • Trains that normally run between between Welwyn Garden City and Sevenoaks will terminate and restart at London Blackfriars

  • Trains that normally run between Bedford and Three Bridges will terminate and restart at Gatwick Airport

This part of the network uses track circuits to detect trains. If a circuit fails, the system may think a train is still there, blocking others from moving forward.

Drivers must stop at red signals and get verbal permission to proceed at a reduced speed, which can cause significant delays, especially in areas with long track sections.

Faults can be caused by electronic issues or track obstructions. Network Rail is investigating, and updates will be shared as we have them.
