Disruption between Redhill and Gatwick Airport expected until the end of the day

Description

A safety inspection of the track between Redhill and Gatwick Airport means that some lines have been closed. As a result, fewer trains than normal are able to run through the area and may be delayed, cancelled or revised.

Disruption is expected until 15:45.

Great Western Railway customer advice:

You can use your ticket at no extra cost on Southern services between Redhill and Gatwick Airport.

If your train is cancelled, you may travel on either of the two services before, or two services after, your original train. If these are peak services or less flexible, you can still travel with your original ticket, at no extra cost.

Southern / Thameslink customer advice:

If you are travelling between Purley and Gatwick Airport you can travel on your normal route, but services will be disrupted.

You will need to allow at least an additional 20 minutes to complete your journey.

This is also affecting services between East Croydon and Brighton.

Please talk to station staff, look at the information boards or check your journey planner for the most recent information.

If you are travelling to Gatwick Airport, please allow at least an extra 45 minutes for your journey to ensure you make your flight connections.

Can you tell me more about the incident?

There has been a report of a possible issue with the track in the area. Network Rail engineers are en route, and until they have safely inspected the track, trains are unable to run on this specific line. As a result, trains heading in the London-bound direction must divert via Redhill.
