Description

A person has been hit by a train between London and Stevenage. Whilst the emergency services carry out their work, all lines between these stations are closed. Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes, revised or diverted.

Major disruption is expected until 16:00.

Tickets will be accepted at no extra cost on any the following routes:

Via East Coast

  • Any other Grand Central services today

  • CrossCountry between Ely and Peterborough

  • Great Northern between London Kings Cross and Ely - please note this train operator is also affected by this disruption

  • LNER between London Kings Cross and Newcastle or Leeds - please note this train operator is also affected by this disruption

West Riding:

  • Northern between Doncaster and Leeds / Leeds and Halifax

  • TransPennine Express between Wakefield Kirkgate and Brighouse

North East:

  • Northern between Darlington and Sunderland via Thornaby

  • TransPennine Express between York and Middlesbrough

Great Northern and Thameslink customer advice:

If you are travelling between Finsbury Park and Welwyn Garden City, you are advised to plan ahead and allow at least an extra 60 minutes to complete your journey.

Services across Great Northern and Thameslink have been impacted by this incident and we expect that trains will be subject to delays of at least 60 minutes and may be cancelled or subject to a revised calling pattern.

If you are travelling now, you may need to use an alternative route on part of your journey extending your journey time by 60 minutes.

Please delay travel until later today where possible as there is severe disruption and Great Northern and Thameslink can't guarantee you can get to your destination at the moment.

Ticket acceptance:

You may use your ticket at no extra cost on the following;

  • Elizabeth line services between London Liverpool Street and Farringdon – Change at London Liverpool Street for Enfield Town on the London Overground route

  • Great Northern services via Hertford North

  • Greater Anglia services between Ely, Cambridge, Peterborough, London Liverpool Street, and also Hertford East, which is roughly 20 minutes from Hertford North, and London Liverpool Street

  • London Buses between London terminals, Crews Hill and Enfield Chase

  • London Overground between London Liverpool Street and Enfield Town

  • London Underground on routes across central London, including between London Terminals and High Barnet / Cockfosters.

  • Thameslink services via any reasonable route

Hull Trains services will divert via an alternative route and may be delayed. Services will still call at scheduled stations.

LNER customer advice:

Two double decker replacement buses (78 seats each) will run between Newark and Lincoln (in both directions). These will be with Marshalls of Sutton. Your ticket can be used on these services at no extra cost.

Some LNER train services will divert via Hertford.

You can use your ticket on the following train companies at no extra cost:

  • Avanti West Coast between London Euston, Manchester and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh

  • CrossCountry between Sheffield, Doncaster / Leeds, York and Newcastle / Edinburgh

  • East Midlands Railway between London St Pancras International, Leicester and Sheffield

  • Great Northern and Thameslink between London Kings Cross, Stevenage and Peterborough - please note these train operators are also affected by this disruption

  • Northern between Carlisle and Newcastle
