Description

Following a fault on a train near Thetford all lines between Ely and Norwich have reopened. As service recovers, trains may still be delayed by up to 45 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 22:00.

East Midlands Railway customer advice:

There was a fault on a train at Thetford. This is between Ely and Norwich and is disrupting trains on the Liverpool Lime Street/Nottingham/Norwich routes.

The train has now moved forward to Brandon and trains can run through the area. Engineers continue to work on moving the train back to the depot.

How does this affect my train?

The line has now reopened. Trains can now run between Ely and Norwich in both directions. However, services may be delayed and altered.

How do I get where I need to be?

You should continue to travel as originally planned however your journey may be delayed by 60 minutes.

You should use alternative routes which will be most comfortable and the quickest way to get where you need to be. Your ticket can be used at no extra cost to travel via the following alternative routes:

  • LNER between Peterborough and Doncaster in both directions

  • TransPennine Express between Sheffield and Doncaster

  • CrossCountry between Sheffield and Doncaster in both directions

  • Northern between Sheffield and Doncaster in both directions

  • Greater Anglia Norwich to Ely via Stowmarket in both directions

Greater Anglia customer advice:

Unfortunately the 16:52 Norwich to Manchester Piccadilly service has developed a fault and can't move forward. East Midlands Railways engineers have now fixed this fault and trains can run through the area again.

Route affected:

  • Norwich - Stansted Airport via Cambridge

Service impact:

Services continue to be disrupted as trains recover to the advertised timetable.

Advance purchase tickets holders will be allowed to travel on earlier or later trains if their booked service is cancelled.
