New trains are being introduced to the Island Line in 2021, replacing the existing fleet which is over 80 years old. In order for these new trains to run, upgrades are needed to the Island Line route to allow these trains to be accommodated. This includes a new passing loop at Brading to allow more frequent services. More information on these upgrades can be found here.
From Monday 4 January to Saturday 15 May, buses will replace trains between:
- Ryde Pier Head and Ryde Esplanade (minibus service)
- Ryde Esplanade and Shanklin
