This station has step free access to Platform 1 (for trains towards Colchester and London) only. Platform 2 (for trains towards Clacton-on-Sea and Walton-on-the-Naze) can only be accessed via a stepped footbridge or via a public footpath from Clifton Terrace, which has steps between the road and the footpath.
From 23rd February 2026, station improvement works will be taking place and for a period of two weeks, there are times when one or more of the ticket office, toilet facilities, and the waiting room will be closed to accommodate these works. Alternative toilet facilities will be available on board the trains. From 6th to 8th March 2026, the waiting room and the ticket office will be completely closed while new flooring is installed.
