Thursday 24 December - Christmas Eve
Significant changes to services at Birmingham New Street
Due to major engineering work to upgrade the overhead power lines, there will be no trains all day at Birmingham New Street. The following changes will be made to CrossCountry services:
Long-distance CrossCountry services will be amended and / or diverted, trains will run between:
Coleshill Parkway and Stansted Airport
Nottingham and Cardiff Central
Edinburgh and Plymouth
Manchester Piccadilly and Bournemouth
Replacement bus services will run, for journeys starting or ending at Birmingham New Street, between:
Coleshill Parkway, Water Orton and Birmingham New Street
Worcestershire Parkway and Birmingham New Street
Tamworth, Wilnecote and Birmingham New Street
Birmingham International and Coleshill Parkway
Birmingham International and Worcestershire Parkway
Wolverhampton and Worcestershire Parkway
Changes to services at Doncaster and Wakefield Westgate
On Christmas Eve there will be no service between Reading and Newcastle via Doncaster.
No CrossCountry trains will call at Wakefield Westgate, your ticket will be accepted at no extra cost on other operators services between Doncaster / Leeds and Wakefield Westgate.
Friday 25 December - Christmas Day

No trains will operate on Christmas Day.
Saturday 26 December
No service
No CrossCountry trains will operate on Saturday 26 December.
Sunday 27 December

Due to major engineering work to upgrade the overhead power lines, there will be no trains all day at Birmingham New Street. The following changes will be made to CrossCountry services:

Changes to CrossCountry services in Scotland
Due to engineering work at Haymarket and the bank holiday, no CrossCountry trains will run between Edinburgh and Glasgow Central, or between Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
Saturday 2 January
Change to trains between Basingstoke and Southampton Central
Due to engineering work, trains will divert via an alternative route between Basingstoke and Southampton Central, extending your journey time by up to 45 minutes. This means that trains will not be able to call at Winchester or Southampton Airport Parkway.
Sunday 3 January

Due to engineering work, trains will divert via an alternative route between Basingstoke and Southampton Central, extending your journey time by up to 45 minutes. This means that trains will not be able to call at Winchester or Southampton Airport Parkway.
No CrossCountry trains will call at Wolverhampton
Due to engineering work between Birmingham New Street and Smethwick Galton Bridge, CrossCountry trains will not call at Wolverhampton and will divert via an alternative route.
Monday 4 January
Change to the 20:42 Reading to Manchester Piccadilly service
Due to late evening engineering work, the 20:42 Reading to Manchester Piccadilly service will still run but will arrive later than usual into Manchester Piccadilly at 00:13.
