Description

A fault with the signalling system in the Bedhampton area means trains have to run at a reduced speed.

As a result, trains between Portsmouth Harbour and Havant / Fareham may be delayed by up to 15 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 14:00.

Southern customer advice:

Trains will be delayed by around 10 - 15 minutes when travelling from Havant towards the Portsmouth area. Repairs to the signalling system are required in the Bedhampton area, following an earlier fault.

Can you tell me more about the incident?

Earlier, a fault with the axle counter system was reported at Farlington Junction, near Bedhampton. This is part of the signalling equipment, used to detect and monitor the passage of trains.

The fault was reported to have been fixed, but Network Rail are now carrying out additional cable repairs, leading to some further delays.
