Trains to Exmouth

Exmouth is well known for being a port and seaside resort in Devon. It is located on the world’s heritage Jurassic Coast, on the estuary of River Exe where the river meets the sea. It is an old and picturesque seaside town. It offers two miles of sandy beach. The railway line arrived in Exmouth in 1861 with an eleven carriages passenger train that carried 150 people. The arrival of the train line was determinant for the prosperity of the town. Travellers arriving at Exmouth station will be able to reach within a short walk distance the town pedestrianized Strand. Exmouth is characterized by many hotels, guesthouses, shops and pubs. From the town visitors can reach within five-minute walk the Esplanade and the beach, or to Exmouth Marina where, during the summer months, visitors can reach Starcross sailing across the estuary. Exmouth railway station is located 11.25 miles (18 km) south east of Exeter St Davids. It is managed by Great Western Railway and it is the terminus station of the Avocet Line, a branch of the West of England Main Line running from Exeter.

Trains connecting Exterer St Davids to Exmouth run 7 days a week, every half hour during day time, whereas in the evening trains run every hour. These train services continue terminate either at Paignton or Barnstaple. Passengers travelling from Exmouth can change either at Exeter Central for connection trains to Axminster, Salisbury, Basingstoke, Woking and London Waterloo or can change at Exeter St Davids for other main line destination.

The station is equipped with a single platform operating train services to Exeter St David's. The ticket office and a waiting room are located at the end of platform one. The train station is fully accessible in addition to which there are ramps for train access and wheelchairs available at this station. Travellers can benefit from a large car park with 200 parking spaces. The carpark together with a bus station are located right outside the train station. CCTV and Wi-Fi services operate at this train station. Book train tickets to Exmouth there are plenty of activities to entertain the entire family. Passengers who desire to catch the ferry to Starcross can reach the pier where the ferry leaves in just over 10-minute walk.
